SoKno Sculpt Project Kickoff

Ground zero for SoKno Sculpt! We held our first meet-up to discuss the goals and challenges of the SoKno Sculpt kickoff and our new public art initiative of the Old Sevier Community Group (OSCG).

The group considered its mission: to cultivate public art in the neighborhood by helping residents commission sculptures for their properties while creating new opportunities for Knoxville-area artists.

Nineteen people signed up to help with committees, including web development and social media. Several artists also expressed interest in participating as sculptors.

The group elected its first officers, with Christian Lange serving as Director and Charles Gurney as Secretary and Director of Community Outreach.

The evening concluded with a performance by Carteret Banks and The Mojo Band.
